Dates for your diary - don't miss our next training courses!

Want to mix a musical? Sign up for our "Mixing Musicals" training course on 5-6 March 2014 to get a practical insight into the skills and theory behind best-practice FOH mixing requirements for modern musicals.

This course is about much, much more than "this is how a mixing desk works" – you will be taken through every stage of the process, from the rehearsal room to setting up a desk in its base state. It includes the theory, introduction to why line-by-line mixing is so important, and what happens when you don't do it.

And there is more! Orbital's annual"Sound Fundamentals for Theatre" training course 2014 will take place between 22nd and 25th April.

Across the four activity-packed days, students will be tutored in a wide cross-section of essential skills for theatre sound, with Orbital's Richard Carter and Bill Addison at the helm. Orbital estimates that it has now helped prepare more than 300 theatre sound and technical theatre students for careers in live entertainment – with students drawn from across the UK's leading drama schools, as well as many freelancers and the corporate sector.

Book early to avoid disappointment - our courses are hugely popular! Contact our training co-ordinator, Alex Waddle (see below), for more information.

"Combining theatre sound theory with hands-on practical sessions, we were also given the chance to go backstage at London's Savoy theatre, where operator Hannah Reymes-Cole gave us an insight into the sound system set-up of Carousel, followed by a question and answer session that gave students a chance to quiz a successful operator on various aspects of the business. Seeing sound fundamentals in action clearly helped a lot of the students, myself included, to process the theory we'd learnt back at Orbital's base"
