Nemesis at the Edinburgh Festival

- with sound designer Gareth Fry

Nemesis Audio's CCS-2 made its Edinburgh debut this August with Complicite's production "The Encounter". Director/performer Simon McBurney is now touring the UK with the show, which features the Mayorunan tribe's stories and the sounds of the rainforest.

Founded in 1983 by by Simon McBurney, Annabel Arden, and Marcello Magni, Complicite (originally known as Thtre de Complicit) has established itself as a theatrical trail-blazer, using extreme movement and with productions often involving dazzling use of technology, such as projection and cameras, as well as lyrical and philosophical contemplation of serious themes.

For award-winning sound designer Gareth Fry, The Encounter project involved spending 5 days in Brazil during 2014, recording the sounds of the rainforest that provided the "bed" for the show's soundtrack. Subsequently his journey included binaurally recording Cessna aircraft, mosquito colonies at the London School of Tropical Medicine and venturing into Epping Forest!

Now on tour around the UK and Europe, The Encounter has met with rave reviews for the sophistication of the sound design. The Nemesis Audio CCS-2 Control Switch formed part of the huge array of sound equipment used on the Edinburgh Festival performances.

The Nemesis CCS-2, with its multitude of in/out options, allows two computer systems most commonly a "MAIN" and a "BACKUP" to share a keyboard, mouse, monitor, distribution of GPI data and MIDI messages. It can be remote controlled via MIDI and closed contact from a control surface allowing the user to have full triggering control from any console.
