Central Saint Martins' Platform Up

After initial surveys and product demonstrations it was a Nexo PS series integrated system that won the day.

Central Saint Martins is one of the world's most influential centres for art and design and the Platform Theatre is its stage. The Platform Theatre complex at Central Saint Martins comprises four performance spaces and a bar. It's constantly forging new partnerships between their students and the industry, nurturing collaborations across all disciplines, the programme is diverse, mainly featuring public performances by students at the University of the Arts London. Performances regularly showcase experiments in design, and inventive theatrical techniques and materials. The theatre also hosts independent external events such as art festivals like the London International Mime Festival and the London International Festival of Theatre.

And so when the theatre technical crew were looking for a replacement for their outdated sound systems it was Orbital Sound who were chosen to help them out. After initial surveys and product demonstrations it was a Nexo PS series integrated system that won the day. With four spaces to kit out over a period of time the college has started with one of their studio theatres for the new system based around the PS8 cabinets with LS400 sub bass reinforcement all run from NXAMP4X1 powered controllers.

Orbital's Andy Simmons commented "Although the new Platform Theatre spaces are only a few years old they were specified with loudspeaker systems that were woefully inadequate for the application. It was a perfect fit for the Nexo PS series as they seem to perform well no matter what you throw at them. The Theatre needed systems that could be rigged quickly and added to for different shows or whatever they choose to do in there and having the NXAMP powered controllers just makes this job even the more easier for them."

The theatre are now installing in the other spaces at the college and will be specifying more Orbital designed Nexo systems.
