The Gordon Craig Theatre in Stevenage has a long association with Orbital Sound, they purchased their new sound system a couple of years ago and have benefited from being part of the Orbital family of customers who use the hire, sales and tech support department teams to enable them to provide world class technical systems to the various touring productions that pass through on a regular basis, not forgetting the busy schedule of in house productions that also benefit from this support.

Dave Nott, Chief Technician at The Gordon Craig Theatre in Stevenage, started investigating various wireless systems earlier in the year but after a visit to Shure UK's facility in North London with Orbital's Luke Hyde he was convinced that the ULXD system would fit the bill both technically and most importantly within their given budget.

The ULXD Digital Wireless System offers a mix of 24-bit digital audio quality and scalability with features including Wireless Workbench 6, optimized frequency scanning, and AES 256 encryption for security. An extended 20 Hz � 20 KHz frequency range with totally flat response, combined with 24 bit/ 48 kHz digital audio, captures every detail with an incredibly accurate low end and transient response.

After settling on a combination of handheld and bodypack transmitters the system was custom designed into to mobile flightcases that would enable the system to be used within the theatre itself or as part of a touring system that the theatre embarks on from time to time.

The features and most importantly the sound quality from the ULXD system is really something and it's made a big difference to all the productions we've used it on.
