When Bird College's Production Technical Manager, James Hughesdon, was tasked with the job of providing their new studio theatre complex with a full Theatre Sound and CCTV system to live up to the exacting demands of the faculty he immediately turned to Orbital Sound to provide an 'Orbital Solution'.

Having experienced their world beating service and equipment supply from the busy hire department James had no hesitation coming back to Orbital with some ideas for the fitting out of the new theatre.

A Nexo Geo M6 system was chosen for the main theatre, centred on M620 arrays with LS18 sub bass reinforcement bought in when needed. The whole system is powered by Nexo NXAMP controller amplifiers under Dante control from the supplied Yamaha QL5 mixing console.

The system is completely reconfigurable to cope with the demands of the different activities that Bird College hold in the theatre. A full CCTV monitoring system for MD and cast was also supplied with full routing around the building where necessary.

A Sennheiser IR system copes with the assisted hearing needs whilst existing sound equipment was re deployed into the system for when the theatre is reconfigured as two dance studios complete with local control via a Cloud Electronics DCM1e digital routing system, giving wireless, local control of all the systems.
