A UNIQUE DESIGN PERSPECTIVE ON "I CAN'T SING"
The Spin interviewed sound designer Gareth Owen about the irreverent new musical "I Can't Sing" at The London Palladium, written by comedian Harry Hill and composer Steve Brown. Describing it as a "challenging show", Gareth specified the d&b audiotechnik J-Series for the first time in a West End production - one of three firsts in I Can't Sing's sound design.

London's Half Moon
  The Half Moon, one of London's longest running and most respected independent live music spots, is the latest venue to install a fully specified system from Flare Audio, and the first to use the brand new SM15 Stage Monitors and V15C 15" high SPL point source loudspeakers. The Half Moon's musical pedigree includes some of the industry's biggest names, including The Rolling Stones, The Who, Bo Diddley, Kasabian and U2.

Former Westlife front man Shane Filan recently concluded his debut solo tour, complete with another first - a sizeable touring speaker system from Flare Audio. This is the first major tour to use Flare Audio's X5A vertical point source array, configured with six X5s and four Q18 bass units a side, powered by Lab.gruppen PLM20000Q four channel DSP amplifiers. With industry veteran Steve Levitt at the production helm, Shane Filan took in a total of 18 cities around the UK and Eire.

  The musical genre is looking in great shape this year as yet another brand new musical sets off on tour before its West End debut. 20th Century Boy is inspired by the life of rock legend Marc Bolan and is packed full of T.Rex's hits from the 1970s. Sound design is by Chris Whybrow, specifying the d&b audiotechnik Q-Series system with a DiGiCo SD10 mixing desk.

War Horse Tours Europe
The National Theatre's acclaimed production of Michael Murpurgo's War Horse is due to tour in Europe later this year, complete with a sound system supplied by Orbital Sound for sound designer Christopher Shutt. The production opens at The Royal Theatre Carré in Amsterdam on June 14th 2014, and is a collaboration between the Stichting Theateralliantie, and the Holland Festival.

Orbital Sound has supplied a FreeSpeak system to the I Can't Sing production at The London Palladium, configured with twelve fully duplex multichannel beltpacks and six antennas. The system, which uses multiple linked reception "cells", has enabled coverage around the whole theatre - connecting this largescale venue's communications comprehensively for the first time.
