Orbital augments service potential in Museum and Heritage Market.

Sound expert Orbital has augmented its potential as a systems solutions provider to the Museums and Heritage industries with the addition PICKUP - an interactive point and click audio guide from Dataton.

Fitting perfectly into Orbital's expansive audio portfolio, MD Chris Headlam commented:

"PICKUP is incredibly simple to operate and install, without confusing numeric keypads to preoccupy the user. It enables us to offer an interactive audio tour, which can augment the visitor experience in any gallery, museum or heritage site."

Using PICKUP's simple "point and click" technology, visitors point the unit at an exhibit's HOTSPOT TRANSPONDER, click and listen to the related stereo sound through its headphones.

Very flexible, PICKUP can also be used as a sequential audio tour without the use of "hotspots". It has been deployed with enormous success across mainland Europe in venues as diverse as The Diamond Museum in Antwerp, Belgium, the Nordiska Museet and the Museum of National Antiquities both based in Sweden's capital, Stockholm.

Additionally, in line with the impending Disability Discrimination Act, PICKUP's simple "point and click " principle allows easy access for visually impaired visitors.

Dataton's Steve Selwyn added:

" We're delighted that Orbital have taken on board our PICKUP system. The company is recognised for its innovative approach and for pushing boundaries in audio design across a variety of Leisurebuild applications. We're confident that by working together PICKUP will make an impact on the UK market."
