Orbital Champions Yamaha's PM5D winning "ABTT Best New Sound Product of the Year 2004".

Theatre sound specialist Orbital announces a hugely successful ABTT Show across both its hire and installation divisions. Following their recent appointment as a Premiere Yamaha Commercial Audio dealer, the company debuted the new Yamaha PM5D on their stand, which was awarded Best New Sound Product at the annual ABTT awards.

Scooping this accolade reinforces that the PM5D is set to follow in its big brother's (the legendary PM1D) footsteps and dramatically augment the potential of theatre sound be it for sale or for hire projects.

Combining the features of Yamaha's DM2000 and the ground breaking PM1D, the PM5D is similarly designed and engineered to the highest standards. As a mid priced digital console, complete with a true third generation operating system, it fits perfectly into Yamaha?s range as a robust workhorse for all but the largest of sound reinforcement projects.

Orbital?s Sales & Installations Manager,Tom Byrne, explained:

"The PM5D was enormously well received at the ABTT show by designers, producers and operators alike. As the PM1D?s baby brother it boasts the same bullet -proof reliability. We anticipate its great success in theatreland as its operating interface and software builds on the PM1D's interface, making it second nature to operate for all those familiar to the other consoles in the Yamaha range. By cascading up to four PM5Ds or DM 1000/ 2000 consoles, we have the capacity to offer 224 mixing channels or duplicate surfaces for multi-stage venues".

In addition, the PM5D revealed its outstanding audio qualities at rigorous listening tests conducted recently at Orbital's HQ. Its sonic excellence, aided by the 24 bit 96 KHz d/a converters, eclipses the quality offered by desks priced at four times the cost of a PM5D.

Orbital is also pleased to announce the recent arrival of another two PM5D consoles, which join the company?s already expansive fleet of Yamaha desks.
