Grease in Cyprus 2004

Orbital sound designer Gareth Owen has recently returned from designing the international tour of Grease in the Patticion Amphitheatre in Cyprus. Owen took a 75-channel Cadac R-Type mixing console, as well as 24-channels of tc Electronic EQStation, both operated by sound number one Christian Mace. 24-channels of Trantec S6000 radio mics also made the five hour flight to Cyprus, and coupled with Sennheiser HS2 headsets worked flawlessly under the watchful eye of sound number two, Hannah Reymes-Cole.

Asked to comment on the show, Gareth replied "This heat's a bitch. My favourite CD just melted in the CD player and I've got first degree burns on my nose. Its giving me the rage I tell you." It's difficult to feel too sorry for him however – Orbital not only provided a rack mounted fridge at the mixing desk, but also supplied two industrial fans and a portable air conditioning unit.

The speaker and line system were provided by Perfect Sound of Limoassol, Cyprus, who supplied a large DAS system in two (very) large, and great sounding stacks.
