Jesus Christ SuperStar at Porchester Castle

Jesus Christ SuperStar at Porchester Castle

Orbital recently provided sound design services to Earl Carpenter for his open air concert production of Jesus Christ Superstar. The concert was held in the grounds of Porchester Castle on the banks of the Solent in Portsmouth and was enjoyed by almost ten-thousand people.

Orbital sound designer Gareth Owen used a Yamaha DM2000 to mix the sixty-three piece orchestra, whilst sound number one Christian Mace used a Midas XL3 to sub-mix the twenty four cast radio mics.

The atmosphere at the event was suitably relaxed until Earl accidentally threw the Orbital Frisbee (The Amazing Flying Ring) into the castle moat. A small scuffle ensued before musical supervisor Pete Harrison volunteered to swim out and retrieve it from the watery depths. The rest of the event proceeded without incident.
