Fame runs eight shows a week at the Aldwich Theatre in Londons West End, and is likley to go on doing so for many years to come.
After almost ten years of faultless service Fame's trusty Amek recall was finally retired this month.
The new console - Yamahas latest PM5D - has already been seen pressed into service on several Orbital tours, most notably Chicago and Love Shack.
Orbital sound designer Gareth Owen commented - "The Amek consoles are still pretty much unique, even in this day and age. Show me another analouge console that can do what a Recall does... There just isn't one." However, Gareth concedes that digital is the way forward "Unfortunatly the Amek is getting a bit long in the tooth so we decided to opt for a PM5D as replacement console. We've had so much sucsess with this desk that it really is the obvious choice."
Sound Number One Mikey Bell was equally excited. "This is a real step forward," he commented, "The new reverb engines are beautifull and the automation lets Gareth and I do all sorts of funky things."
Production Engineer Chris Mace liked it too. "Its lighter than the trusty Recall" was his considered opinion.
