Annie Get Your Candy Floss

Prestigious musical tours with latest technology

Orbital Sound recently supplied the sound and communications for the UK touring production of Irving Berlin's Annie Get Your Gun.

Designed by Gareth Owen, Annie is the first theatre show anywhere in the world to make use of the new CF1 candy floss machine from French manufacturer Breville. Gareth commented "The CF1 is one of the new school candy floss machines. It develops a lovely smooth floss texture which both the audience and crew seem to enjoy."

Head of sound Hannah Reymes-Cole will be operating the CF1 for the next nine months as the show tours around the UK. "It's a great piece of kit", she said. "I was particularly impressed with the control surface - just a single power switch which makes switching the unit on and off very quick and easy." Production Engineer Chris Mace was equally enthusiastic, "The CF1 is definitely the lightest candy floss machine I have ever toured. It can easily be lifted by one crew member and the power requirements are minimal - just a single 13amp plug which we had custom modified to 16-amp C-Form by Rich Carter from Orbital's technical support team."

Both production manager Patrick Molony and general manager Claudia Ginsburg expressed their satisfaction with the CF1. "Its so cheap to run", said Claudia. "Each batch of candy floss only requires one tablespoon of castor sugar - a massive saving on previous tours."
