Orbital appointed first Alcons Audio UK Ribbon Partner

Alcons Audio is pleased to announce the appointment of London based Orbital Sound as its first UK Ribbon Partner

Tom Back, Alcons Audio MD said "The UK market and theatre sound market in specific is a difficult market to enter, especially for a relative newcomer as we are. All of us at Alcons are very proud that such a well-respected organisation like Orbital have taken on Alcons into their port-folio".

Sound Designer Rick Clarke commented:

"I have always had a problem with horn loaded compression drivers in that while they solve projection problems with good pattern control they do introduce a perceivable distortion especially in the 's' region of the human voice. This has left me constantly trying to remove as much of the distortion as possible using various equalisation techniques without losing intelligibility. This over emphasis of the 's' happens at different frequencies depending on the individual performer and therefore has to be resolved on the input channel, using the channel equaliser (usually not accurate enough) or expensive inserts. Happily I can report that the ribbon tweeters used in Alcons speakers do not have this problem and my focus in the sound can move on to finer things. Musically, the very high damping factor makes for a very accurate and hi-fi sound, so all together an excellent package".

Although the specifications of pro-ribbon transducers look pretty impressive, actually experiencing a concert or theatre performance through a pro-ribbon-loaded system is simply amazing! The products deliver a fantastic level of transparency due to their high power ribbon technology.
