Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's legendary musical celebrates its return to the West End this summer in a new, vibrant and colourful production directed by the award-winning director of Guys And Dolls, Don Carlos and The Donmar Warehouse, Michael Grandage.

Steeped in history the shows memorable "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" was recorded and released in 1976 followed by the complete double album release, which went gold. The stage production opened on June 21, 1978 at the Prince Edward Theatre in London . Elaine Paige successfully secured the title role and Joss Ackland her formidible Juan Peron.

Following stints in Los Angeles and San Francisco , Evita premiered on Broadway at the Broadway Theatre on September 25, 1979 . The production ran for an incredible 1,567 performances (more than twice as many as Jesus Christ Superstar). Evita won an impressive seven Tony Awards including best book, best score and best musical of the year. In 1981, the
Evita cast recording was awarded a Grammy Award.

With its multi award-winning production team and hot new orchestrations, Evita tells Eva's passionate and tragic story through Andrew Lloyd Webber's most dazzling score and Tim Rice's most famous lyrics, including Don't Cry For Me Argentina, Another Suitcase In Another Hall and High Flying Adored, together with You Must Love Me, the Oscar winning song from the film of Evita.

Sound design for Evita is by Mick Potter, with the production being staged by the Really Useful Theatre Company.

Evita is now playing at The Adelphi Theatre where it opened to rave reviews.
