Alcons Audio arrives in UK theatre

With the arrival of the musical The Far Pavilions at London's Shaftsbury Theatre Orbital introduced Alcons ribbon loudspeakers to the West End stage.

Specified by sound designer Rick Clarke the Alcons products deliver a fantastic level of transparency due to their high power ribbon technology.

Alcons Audio is a Dutch company, active in development and manufacturing of professional sound systems for quality-conscious clients in the cinema, installation and touring industry. The R&D department of Alcons Audio features a unique combination of extensive know-how in transducer, acoustics and system design, as well as DSP and amplifier technology. This combination has led to impressive products, such as world's first long-throw ribbon-loaded SR system - the Newton modular DSP-controlled line-array.

With new high-resolution media coming up in a rapid pace, existing compression-driver based systems sometimes can't reproduce these data accurate enough. That's the main reason why Alcons Audio develops its systems with proprietary ribbon technology; a radically different, but proven way of reproducing mid and high frequencies, resulting in HiFi sound quality at concert sound pressure levels. Although the specifications of pro-ribbon transducers look pretty impressive, actually experiencing a concert or theatre performance through a pro-ribbon-loaded system is simply amazing!

Orbital stock a growing range of Alcons products including the range of Alcons Class-G amplifiers utilising user-friendly "plug & play" processing circuit for protection purposes rather than for camouflaging bad acoustic engineering.
