Training At Orbital

Training Dates Announced - Sound Fundamentals Course already heavily subscribed

Orbital Sound has announced details of this year's four-day course, Sound Training for Drama Students 2009.

The program, which focuses on Theatre Sound, will run from April 14-17 at the company's HQ — in Brixton, south London.

Training will be geared toward preparing Theatre Sound students — and more advanced Technical Theatre students — for working in the industry.
Students will be exposed to the full scope of disciplines involved, including application training from Yamaha and d&b Audiotechnik, specialist sessions on show control, radio microphones, video, communications and networking, and a chance to chat to industry-leading designers, engineers and technical specialists.

Orbital's training manager, Theo Holloway, says that traditionally, demand from drama schools for places on this course has been high.

"Orbital Sound has been successfully running these courses each spring since 2001," he says. " Attendees from past years are now found at all levels of the industry.

Although there are a total of 20 places per class this year, there is a possibility of running two classes simultaneously if there are sufficient applicants.
But early booking is recommended, advises Holloway, since should the course be oversubscribed, priority will be given to students in their final year of study.
