Orbital Sound Launches Battery Recycling Scheme for UK Theatres

Helping theatres go green by making the case for a responsible attitude to waste-battery recycling

We are all prioritising environmental concerns. Our innovative collect-and-recycle scheme encourages the responsible processing of used dry-cell batteries.

Whether touring theatre production or West End show, powering radio microphones and other portable equipment requires large numbers of batteries. A single musical with 24 radio microphone channels can easily consume 200 to 400+ batteries per week!

Orbital's Battery Recycling Scheme

• a simple option for any venue, making the recycling process as easy as possible
• meeting legal duty-of-care responsibilities for the safe disposal of all battery types
• we deliver a custom recycling case, specifically designed for the safe storage and transit of used batteries
• we collect the case when it's full of waste batteries – typically 3 to 5 weeks later
• leaving an empty case for the next cycle – it's as simple as that
• we charge a nominal, cost-covering fee of £99 + VAT per case

The used batteries are stored at our facilities, pending their collection by Battery Back, one of the UK's largest battery recycling agents.

Which battery types should be recycled? Current legislation covers the safe storage, transport and disposal of all waste batteries,
irrespective of chemical composition. Our recycling scheme ensures batteries of all types are processed in accordance with
government regulations.
