Online Purchasing Options from Orbital Web Shop
Our new Online Shop enables instant purchase of a CSC v3.0 License Key, to activate your version of choice.
You can also purchase time-limited options, so you only pay for the length of time you require. This helps keep your budget under control, while enabling you to benefit from the full power of CSC only for as long as you need – for a one-off production such as a workshop, awards ceremony or corporate event, or perhaps for a Christmas Pantomime.
CSC Training Date - First Course on 29th July 2011
Due to the increasing popularity of the CSC Show Control Software, whether in its Free, Lite Edition, or Full professional version, we have introduced a dedicated training programme. The first training course, which is designed particularly for novice and first-time users, will enable newcomers to CSC to gain valuable hands-on experience in setting up and operating computer-based sound effect playback systems. Appealing to drama or theatre school students, teachers, pupils from secondary-school drama departments, and members of non-professional production companies, the course will emphasise the easy usability of the CSC system, and the speed with which set-ups can be established.
The first course is being held on Friday, 29th July 2011. It will be run by Orbital's technical training team, and will include a workshop session by product specialist Richard Carter.
CSC's comprehensive, multi-functional feature set is now available in three versions – Free, Lite Edition and Full – ensuring that anyone interested in using the software has a range of options available to suit their budget and production criteria. All three versions share the same core features, and all operate on PCs (Windows XP, Vista and 7), as well as on Macs using Bootcamp, making it one of the most widely usable systems of its type available.
CSC, now in its v3.0 release, combines fast set-up, sequential cue-list methodology, with instant hot-scene access to individual cues, plus automated WAV file playback via up to 24 simultaneous playback devices. The system includes an integral waveform display editor, to fine-tune individual sounds without additional software, while sequenced cues can be displayed and edited using a timeline, or in a conventional cue list. A host of triggering options are available, using MIDI, serial ports and remote control boxes. The new Routing Mixer, especially useful for sound designs employing surround systems and multiple outputs, enables Image Groups to be recalled and edited on the fly.
In its Free version, CSC includes a simple mixer, with stereo outputs and 4 simultaneous WavPlayers, which replace traditional MiniDisc and CD players. A straightforward "Download and Go" option, Free is great for quick conference projects and budget-conscious productions. One step up, the Lite Edition version makes CSC's power and capabilities available at an extremely competitive price point, while retaining much of the functionality of the Full professional version. It is designed for larger educational establishments, including schools and universities, and for the more sophisticated non-professional production. It can use an array of up to 8 WavPlayers, for simultaneous play-out, and supports up to 4 output busses.
The Full version includes all the system options, and supports up to 32 output busses, as well as the ability to control video and projection systems, while also offering networking, dual-machine operation, the running of multiple click tracks, and much greater triggering flexibility and MIDI implementation.
Tom Byrne, Orbital's Sales Director, commented: "CSC is probably the easiest-to-use computer-based sound effects and show control system on the market - hence its continually growing popularity, and the huge number of major productions using the system. It's capable of many control routines that are simply impossible with other systems, or would take much longer to set up. It delivers the simplicity required for the smaller production, such as for schools and amateur groups, while also providing the flexibility and top-end sophistication demanded by the largest West End musicals and touring productions. Its three versions cover the whole range of requirements, with an economical and very straightforward upgrade path – you download just one version, and then purchase the relevant license key to activate the facilities you require."
CSC Gets Around
Some of the numerous shows and projects to benefit from CSC's immense flexibility include Jekyll & Hide (2011 tour), Footloose (2011 tour), Strictly Come Dancing (2011 arena tour), Woman in Black, Dancing on Ice, and a Night of Frights (a theatre version of the Most Haunted TV series, with Yvette Fielding and team), which used CSC to create the production's weird and spooky soundscapes. CSC is also used for many AV productions, such as awards nights, and interactive displays in museum and exhibition environments.
