The Beatrix Theater in Utrecht has established itself as one of Europe's most prestigious venues for large-scale musical productions, reflecting Stage Entertainment's long-standing success in bringing hit shows to a wider European audience. The latest debut is Bodyguard, opening this autumn to widespread critical acclaim.

For Orbital Sound, the Beatrix Theater features as a regular venue in the schedule, with Technical Director Bill Addison responsible for the fit-up and technical support on The Bodyguard. The Spin asked him whether working internationally changes how the team operates � he explains: "With each show, we work to a very specific set of processes that ensure a consistent result. That starts from the initial brief from the creative team, through preparing the equipment in advance at our Brixton warehouse, shipping it to the theatre and the on-site set up. Our normal support system is supplemented by a web-based portal bolted right into our central equipment management software, so everyone has instant access to booking repairs, extras, consumables, staff and all sorts of important applications. It is all about keeping in touch in real time, wherever the production happens to be on the globe.

Trusted transport logistics and onsite spares are vitally important and we allow a bit longer for the initial on-site in person support to make sure that everything is running smoothly. It's all about careful preparation and of course, experience."
