Lion King & the Leopard Family

The Lion King welcomes Orbital to the Leopard Family

Amongst the 15 nominations that Stage Entertainments have in the prestigious Netherlands Musical Awards, one was for their production of Disney's The Lion King at the historic AFAS Circustheater in Scheveningen. Originally built as a theatre for circus performances in the early 1900's the Circustheater now functions as a fully equipped theatre largely concentrating on musical theatre productions.

With the full Disney / Lion King creative team involved in specifying the production, headed by sound designer John Shivers aided by associate sound designer Hugh Sweeney, the technical package for Lion King ran like a dream shopping list that any self-respecting sound designer could hope for.

Orbital Sound provided the package for the show which included 48 of Meyer Sound's new Leopard Compact Linear Line Array Loudspeaker, from their Leo family of products. Added to this were Meyer's 900-LFC and 1100-LFC subs, numerous Meyer Ultra Compact Series cabinets all being controlled via a DigiCo SD7T with fully implemented Stealth Core 2 processing. Wireless comms were from ClearCom's Freespeak 2 system, with 27 ways provided for the production team to stay in touch with each other.

A truly multipurpose system, LEOPARD is ideally suited to everything from mid-sized touring and live theatre to worship and live performance installations, and from symphony music to heavy metal.
