Earlier this year, RF specialist Trantec launched its revolutionary S6000 miniature wireless microphone system (patent pending). Designed from the ground-up at Trantec's South London HQ, for use within theatre, broadcast and audio-visual applications, the S6000 has taken London's Theatreland by storm.

Testing the boards, the S6000 was first deployed by theatre sound specialist and Trantec distributor Orbital on the internationally acclaimed musical production Chicago, where the system up-graded the award winning Trantec S5000 system supplied by Orbital for the show's debut 8 years ago.

Due to its miniature size, sonic excellence and wide frequency range allowing the user to tune to any frequency on a 25khz grid from 798 – 865MHz (Ch62 to Ch70), the S6000 has significantly enhanced the audio element of Chicago. Additionally its compact design, simple programming capabilities and controllability have further contributed to its successful performance on a massively challenging musical production.

Most recently Orbital used the S6000 system on Phil McIntyre Promotions' Tonight's the Night – the sensational Rod Stewart musical comedy. As a tribute to legendary rock'n'roll superstar Rod Stewart, the show is written and directed by award-winning dramatist Ben Elton.

Integrating seamlessly into the sophisticated audio system co-designed by Alan (Whizz) Mathieson and Sebastian Frost, the S6000 was co-operated on-site by Richard George, Nik Dudley and Zoe James.

The feature packed S6000 system provided an innovative alternative across a number of sound production levels. In particular, it added an enormous control factor via networked PC screens positioned both backstage and at the FOH position.

Zoe James commented:

" It's been great working with such an innovative system. It sounds fantastic! The S6000's tiny transmitter has won votes across the production team and the cast. They're disguised superbly in the sassy costumes and are very cost effective to operate, using only one AA cell. Additionally, blasting out over 20-Rod Stewart songs with typical Trantec clarity – the system is perfect for the show.

This coupled with the systems' wide frequency range and controllability factor has proved invaluable together with the back up we've received from Trantec's engineers has further contributed to the overall smooth operation throughout the show."

The design and manufacture of the S6000 underlines Trantec's commitment to creating radio products that continue to push boundaries. Providing RF solutions for the most challenging contemporary applications, Trantec is synonymous with quality and innovation.
